Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra at Brighton Dome 2016/17

There may be a nip in the morning air and the nights are definitely closing in, but whilst for some this heralds the onset of winter, for the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra and its regular audience it means a new season of Sunday afternoon concerts at Brighton Dome.

An array of guest soloists and conductors join the orchestra this season to play popular works by Mozart, Dvořák, Mendelssohn and Elgar as well as less well-known gems by Scriabin, Korngold and Greig.

Why not come along to our traditional New Year’s Eve Viennese Gala for a plethora of foot-tapping marches, polkas and waltzes from the prolific Strauss family and lots of sparkly top notes from guest soprano Rebecca Bottone (who featured in the BBC series David Starkey’s Music and Monarchy).

Other concerts include performances by pianist Joseph Moog (15 January) and violinist Chloë Hanslip (5 March), whilst cellist Thomas Carroll returns as both soloist and conductor on Sunday 5 February.

Sunday 5 March 2017 is also the date of our annual Open Rehearsal when children from all over the city can experience the orchestra rehearsing in Brighton Dome Concert Hall. This will be the culmination of this season’s orchestra’s education programme following workshops in local primary schools to introduce children to classical orchestral music, focussing in particular on George Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No.1 which is full of vivid folk tunes and passionate gypsy music.

Tickets for all concerts range from £12-£37 with a 50% discount for students and under 18s, available from Brighton Dome Ticket Office (01273) 709709 or www.brightondome.org

A special offer for the Brighton & Hove Music Hub means you can book the best available seats for just £19 with child tickets just £1. Simply use promotional code: BHMH1617 when booking.

For those considering coming by car, discounted parking is available for all BPO concerts at just £6 for up to five hours (from 1pm-6pm) in NCP Church Street Car Park, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Brighton Dome.
