Another feast of vocal talent wows a sell-out audience at the Brighton Centre

Over 1200 young singers from 41 schools this year took part in one of the largest displays of Brighton & Hove’s young vocal talent in the BHMA Schools Christmas Concert at the Brighton Centre on Monday 7th December.

They entertained a packed audience with festive favourites alongside newly composed material by James Redwood incorporating musical and creative ideas from young people at Downs Park, Downs View, Hillside, Middle Street and Peter Gladwin Schools.

The evening got off to a great start with the arriving performers and audience being greeted in the foyer with traditional carols form young Brass and Wind players sporting bobble hats and playing instruments covered in tinsel and fairy lights! In addition to the massed choir the programme also included the Brighton & Hove Youth Big Band and the Brighton Youth Orchestra String Ensemble who were joined by local composer and Brighton Youth Orchestra ambassador Richard Durrant. The evening’s programme culminated in the whole choir and audience linking arms for a rendition of that New Year staple “Auld Lang Syne”.
